Kathmandu International Music Festival Draws 50,000 Fans Over Three Days

The Kathmandu International Music Festival concluded its seventh edition on Sunday, drawing a record 50,000 attendees across three days at the Tudikhel grounds. The festival featured over 80 artists from 15 countries performing across four stages.

Highlights included a headline performance by Indian vocalist Arijit Singh, a collaborative set between Nepali folk-rock band Kutumba and Korean fusion group JAMBINAI, and an electrifying closing act by Nepali rapper Yama Buddha's protege Uniq Poet.

The festival's cultural exchange stage showcased traditional music from across Nepal's diverse ethnic communities, including Tamang Selo, Newari classical music, and Tharu stick dance performances. These acts drew unexpectedly large crowds.

Organizers reported that the festival generated over 500 million rupees in economic activity for Kathmandu's hospitality sector. Plans for next year include expanding to a five-day format with dedicated stages for electronic music and hip-hop.
