European Union Officially Welcomes Three New Member States

The European Union expanded to 30 member states on Monday as Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia officially joined the bloc in a ceremony held in Brussels. The enlargement represents the most significant expansion since 2004.

EU Commission President described the moment as the reunification of the European family. The three nations completed years of reform to meet the bloc's membership criteria.

The accession brings new economic opportunities but also challenges, including the integration of agricultural sectors and labor markets. Transition periods of up to seven years have been agreed upon.

Citizens in all three countries celebrated with public festivities, seeing EU membership as a guarantee of democratic values and economic prosperity for future generations.
