Nepal's Startup Ecosystem Sees Funding Double to $50 Million

Investment in Nepal's startup ecosystem doubled to $50 million in the past year, driven by growing interest from international venture capital firms. Fintech and edtech sectors attracted the largest share of funding.

Notable deals include a $12 million Series A round for a Nepali fintech company and a $8 million investment in an agricultural technology platform. Several startups also received funding from Indian and Southeast Asian investors.

The government's startup-friendly policies, including tax holidays and simplified registration processes, have contributed to the growth. Nepal's IT park in Banepa has reached full occupancy.

Industry leaders emphasized the need for more experienced mentors and a stronger talent pipeline, urging universities to align their curricula with industry demands.
