The national e-governance platform NagarikApp has crossed the milestone of one million active registered users, officials announced on Tuesday. The platform now provides access to over 150 digital services across 28 government ministries and departments.
The most popular services include online tax filing, passport application tracking, vehicle registration renewal, and birth certificate requests. The platform processes an average of 45,000 transactions daily, saving citizens countless hours of waiting in queues.
A recent update introduced a digital document wallet feature, allowing citizens to store verified copies of citizenship certificates, driving licenses, and academic credentials on their phones. The feature has been downloaded by over 300,000 users since its launch.
Plans for the next phase include integrating local government services from all 753 municipalities and introducing AI-powered chatbot assistance in both Nepali and English to help users navigate the platform.
