Nepal Super League Football Season Kicks Off with Record Attendance
The fourth season of Nepal Super League opened with a packed stadium and live TV coverage across South Asia.
The fourth season of Nepal Super League kicked off on Saturday at the renovated Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, with a record-breaking attendance of 22,000 fans. Defending champions Kathmandu Kings opened against Pokhara Rhinos in a highly anticipated derby.
The league has expanded to ten teams this season, with new franchises from Biratnagar and Nepalgunj joining the competition. Each team features a mix of domestic talent and three international players, raising the quality of play significantly.
Television rights for the league were sold for 800 million rupees to a South Asian sports broadcaster, a fivefold increase from the inaugural season. Matches will be streamed live in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the Nepali diaspora worldwide.
Football Association President expressed confidence that the league will further develop Nepal's football talent pipeline. Over 40 players from last season's league earned call-ups to the national team.
