Nepal concluded the South Asian Games with its best-ever medal haul of 112 medals, finishing second in the overall standings behind India. The tally of 38 gold, 35 silver, and 39 bronze medals surpassed the previous best of 81 medals.
Karate was Nepal's most successful discipline with 8 gold medals, followed by taekwondo with 6 golds and athletics with 5. Swimmer Gaurika Singh emerged as the games' star performer, winning 4 gold medals in individual events.
The women's football team made history by defeating Bangladesh in the final to win gold for the first time, sending celebrations across the nation. The team's success has been credited to a four-year development program funded by FIFA.
Sports Minister announced that the government will increase the annual sports budget by 50 percent following the historic performance and fast-track the construction of international-standard facilities in all seven provinces.
